A CAT (Critically Appraised Topic) is a document created to summarize a published study, focusing on the issues of study validity, the results, and the applicability of the study to patients. CATs are usually one page documents that present the information in an easily digestible format. At Duke, CATS are a teaching tool for residents who prepare and present them as part of Morning Report.
